This is not a hit piece on SAP. What an SMB manufacturer needs from an ERP

NetSuite

NetSuite is Oracle's cloud ERP and the closest thing to an "SAP alternative" that finance and ops leaders will already recognize by name. Epicor Kinetic

Epicor Kinetic is a genuine manufacturing ERP, not a finance system with manufacturing bolted on. Odoo

Odoo is the open-source generalist: a suite of dozens of apps (CRM, sales, inventory, manufacturing, accounting) on a shared PostgreSQL backend, with a free Community edition and a paid Enterprise tier. For a small manufacturer that also needs CRM, e-commerce, or HR, the appeal of one connected suite is real, and Community is free to self-host. Why open, API-first, and self-hostable matters more than it used to
